0.2, 0.4, 0.6 felt tip pens, A3 paper. Around 18 hours. It's all cross-hatching and it looks swell on my wall~
Based on a movie still from Oliver Twist (2005), which I have not seen, so don't spoil it. On the left is The Artful Dodger. I dunno who the other three are...
There's no such thing as "difficult". Some things just take longer than others This took a very long time! (five days)
If you want something to comment on: - Why do you think I drew this? - What do you think is the mood? - Which part do you think took longest?
i love the encredible amount of detail you have put into the characters and their setting. the textures in the clothing and the other items of cloth is simply stunning.

there is such things as difficult like my maths test today...that was difficult but man looks amazing maybe too dark? would like to have seen more details on stuff you should pin it up on your fridge!
I love Oliver Twist! And The Newsies. Must-have musicals!

18 hours!! that is an insane amount of detail! With a pen, holy cow! Did you use a reference, like a photo from the movie? The wood looks so well done, and that hanging blanket thing...
It's very dark and shaded, how long did it take to do do a person? I know it would be different for each, but how long in general? I bet the standing woman took the longest.
Wow. Every time, you manage to stun me. It's that incredible.
Again, it's so brilliant, I can barely begin to even fathom the answers to the questions, but the mood strikes me as tense and bittersweet. The woman looks ready to fight, but also seems quite concerned.
When I saw the thumbnail, I thought you had taken a photograph in black and white! Tremendous work here! I have done some inking, even something that was more than I figured I would ever do, but nothing compared to this!
You say it looks good on your wall, so I sense that you had a reason for wanting this for yourself. I've seen many versions of the movie Oliver Twist, and at one time even read the book. The one thing that is constant in these particular stories is the fact that the character is usually put into very poor conditions before life pours on it's blessings. This drawing does not show the blessing yet. It seems very somber, and very much feels as if the characters are not happy with their situation.
I have an insight here... I think you were challenging yourself. You don't do many inkings, that I have seen anyway, and I think you wanted to see how you could do this with the cross-hatching, which btw is fantastic. The result must have even pleased you.
One thing that I find difficult to do in inking, is knowing when not to do one more line. Especially in this case where you have created a very dark drawing, and yet it's not all solid black. There are many details to look at... yet, that single light source creates such a mood by focusing on the faces. I am impressed.
I would like to know what you were thinking while doing this, and what motivated you. It's one of your best, just because it is different from your normal work, but truly this stands out on its own.
I'm sure you are proud of every hour you spent on this. All 18 of 'em.
Well done!

That is an awesome drawing. It reminds me of an etching. Beautiful job.

...Do YOU see it?

I'm guessing something about the scene struck you.
What do you think is the mood?
Their attention seems to be focused on one thing/person; and they all look serious, almost somber.
Which part do you think took longest?
The fabrics, with their folds and patterns.
Again, it's so brilliant, I can barely begin to even fathom the answers to the questions, but the mood strikes me as tense and bittersweet. The woman looks ready to fight, but also seems quite concerned.
