Derwent Artists colour pencils. About 4 hours on brown card 1 x 1.5 feet or 30 x 45cms. Alex Michaeletos from the film, Duma. Movie still used as a reference.
Edit: Sorry for the double upload. Scanned the image properly so now you have better qualityness :3 It's like, six scans pieced together, so it looks dodgy, but ya know, like, whateva.</edit>
Why do you think I drew this scene when I have not seen the movie? n_n
Sorry for the terrible quality. I wanted to photograph the drawing instead of scan it, as scanners tend to pick up stupidly small flaws, reflect differently depending on the treatment of the card due to the varying pressures of the penc... yeah stuff. So anyway stopwhiningnow.
The uhh bushbaby is trying to climb inside his shirt XD
Not possum. It's a bush-baby. I used to know the swahili word for it too, but I've long ago lost that bit o' knowledge.
I actually own this movie. You have no ideas how many lives I would end in order to have a cheetah as a best friend. . . . I mean, I'd really really like to have a cheetah for a best friend . . .

wow this is nice! however the possum is very hard to make out. until you talked about it I though it was a fur scarf. but like you said. scanners tend to destroy drawings. great job!

oh my, as usual treijim-sama it does look so real! it's only after a short tiem I realize it was pencil-made =___= (I thought it computerized) Anyway, what shoudl I say? I'm not talking about the shadows and light cause you mastered it already xD You have done a wonderful job, and pick up a nice reference (I suppose), and, though I don't know the reference pic, you have done an excellent job bringing life to his face! he looks... well I don't find the rightest word to describe the mimic on his face, but he does look something... hmm maybe angry? frustrated? or merely proud? ... ok I'll fav it cause it deserves so much! *Iluvitthatsall*
That's amazing I've never seen the movie though. I like the way you've picked a picture where the lighting isn't what it could be typically. (On the neck rather than the face), and you don't need me to tell you how impressive the pencil work is.
I managed to get some black paper, and I've been planning to try a white-on-black charcoal picture. You've inspired me Now I just need to get the time...
Great job capturing the texture of the possum's fur.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
