Mine Music

Sun Feb 1, 2009, 3:07 PM
  • Mood: Sympathy
I've finally decided to make three sample pieces of mine available for anybody to download. I realise I have done this before, but the songs I previously uploaded were... crap.

So... Another of my hobbies is to attempt to compose orchestral music. I use Ableton Live software and the Edirol Orchestral VST for all my instruments. Occasionally, I will use Magnus Choir for choral sections. In other words, it's not real.

Before you hear any of my music, I would like to make a few points.

* I have had no training in composing, orchestration, classical music, or music theory, and what you hear is more or less what I have taught myself. I apologise for any damage to your musical sensitivities caused by my uneducated attempts at music.
* Some (all) of the songs are lengthy, so I apologise in advance for both the file-size and potential boredom caused by hearing my music. But honestly... if you finding it boring, I don't want to hear it, because I made this music for myself.
* Pretty much all of my songs are based on something/someone/someplace in Riiga. If a song interests you, enter the name of the person/place/thing into the search bar to find an article on what it's about (hopefully): [link]
* I welcome feedback, so contact me in any way you can if you want to tell me something about my music!

No musical training? D: Could've fooled me. I just listened to them all, and they all sound absolutely epic and gorgeous!
I'm starting to wonder if there's anything you can't do XD

Very epic sound, very well orchestrated. How long have you been working with music?

Thanks :3 I'm very glad you like them. Perhaps it's better to ask if there's anything that anybody can't do ;D

Thanks!

Let's see... It's only been this last year (maybe not that long) that I've been taking music more seriously. I first started trying to create my own songs maybe two years ago -- early 07. And before that I made hundreds of pathetic attempts at remixing video game music. That started at the beginning of 06, roughly. As a child I tried the drums; acoustic, electric, and bass guitar; keyboard; piano; trumpet; recorder; singing; and numerous percussive instruments such as xylophones, triangles, and maracas; but I didn't take any of them seriously and honestly didn't learn that much. Is that a sufficient answer? ;p

Sufficient indeed :D

My best friend is a music maniac; his whole room is a sound studio. I barely ever worked with music except for some violin in elementary school and this electric guitar I have, yet never get around to playing it. I would like to eventually get around to learning some. Keyboards have lately been catching my eye. They seem very interesting since there's so many different sounds and effects you can use on them.

By the by... ever heard of the band Dream Theater? Very epic progressive.

lovely music. We're somewhat alike about that. I know nothing of the theory whatsoever, I can't even read sheet music of play any isntruments but I still ventured into sequencing and I'm loving it. The keyboard I showed you the other day is making it even easier. I'll still note you with any questions while fiddling with edirol ^__^ Take care

Wow, your music is as awesome as your art. O_O

Do you use finale? And how long does it usually take for you to compose a piece?

*Listens to the epicness*

Never say, "I can't." Instead ask yourself, "how can I?".

Wow! I never knew you dabbled in music as well. When I have a good moment to really sit down and listen, I am going to be sure to click those links. I can't wait to hear what your creative juices have come up with ^_^

Awesome music. Thanks for sharing. They are all excellent.
I think Lord Renin's Overture is my favorite.

I lost my way finding reality and wound up here instead.
