If I Was God

Sat May 23, 2009, 5:53 AM
  • Mood: Sympathy
If I was God, I think I would create people a certain way...

I think my creations would want lasting rewards for taking good care of themselves and being healthy.
So, I think I will make their bodies respond appropriately to the way they are treated.
But some people might not treat their bodies right, and with lasting rewards comes lasting consequences...

I think my creations would want to be able to pass on these achievements to their offspring.
So, I think I will have children obtain attributes from both parents, as a symbol of their partnership and unity, at the very least.
But some people might pass on bad things...

I think some of my creations would want to be able to help their children if they had a rough start, in case somebody made mistakes.
So, I think I will also have their body and character developed mostly while the parent is taking care of them.
But some people might make more mistakes during this important time...

I think my creations would want to be able to have a greater mental capacity than the animals around them.
So, I think I'll give them greater intelligence which will allow them to do things and make choices with varying degrees of instinct and sensibility.
But some who suffered mistakes might literally not know any better...

I think my creations would want to be able to tell when they need to act on something or make a change.
So, I think I'll give them emotions like anger, to tell them when they have experienced an injustice; and joy, to tell them that it's a time to be grateful and celebrate.
But some might bury and ignore the anger so that it surfaces at inappropriate and random times...

I think my creations would want to be able to express their experience in an articulate and poetic way.
So, I will grant them the capacity for great artistic ability, including speech.
But some might use the tongue to attack others and cause pain...

I think my creations would want to combine their physical need to reproduce with their spiritual need to give and receive love.
So I will create an optimal tree of relationships where this is possible.
But such a tree has potential for so many more sour experiences and many would learn to despise it...

Come to think of it, with all this set up in this way, there's massive potential for things to go wrong.
But where there's potential for something to go wrong, there's potential for something to change.
And where there's potential for something to change, there's potential for things to go right.
Right?

I hope my creations will recognise this...

I hope they don't see the gifts I gave them as curses or blemishes...

Or maybe... my creations would all want to be robots?

Just because that's how you are, doesn't mean that's who you are.

Isn't this exactly the way God has created us though?

I enjoyed reading this entry ^^

He's explaining his understanding of why God made us what we are.

Good job. :)

Oh how we creations seem to muck up the works! I go back to the original thought of what God may have had in mind, and it seems that even in His perfect world, man seems to make a mess of it. Taking all the good and turning it all bad. Everything that was mentioned in your journal is SOOO true! We have the opportunity to do the right things. We are given the potential to be better than we are... but here we sit, being lower than pond scum at times.

The "Me" factor is really bad. If we actually felt compassion for our fellow man, the world would be a better place. If we were concerned about the repercussions of our actions, and how they affected those around us, we would stop and think before doing... But alas, it seems that the "Me" factor overtakes us and we feel the need to satisfy "Me" before anyone else. We are a selfish society. More worried what will happen to us, if someone says something, or does something... even to think that we (whomever the "we" are) should be better than everyone else in the world. If we could only see what others see in us, then we would realize that we are not that great. Even our best intent sucks. There is always a selfish motive behind all the "good" things we do for others.

Yeah, I agree, we don't have to be what we are... but guess what? That's what we are... and unless some miracle happens, we will die this way... cuz the way I see it...no one will make the effort to change... As much as I would like to think I will change... I prolly won't. Not much any way. :(

Thanks for the deep topic. :P Always great to hear from you!

Love your journal! I wish there was a way to :+fav: it. It's so true and you bring up almost all the issues, in a way that builds up gradually from the start..

:icontrotim:
What are you talking about.
:icontreijim:
I believe we were initially "perfect", but we demanded our independence and we got it. Many people question why God would let us do such a thing, but God weaves unspeakable beauties out of unspeakable tragedies.

"Sometimes I wonder why God created us as failures, but then I remembered that we haven't yet actually failed."

Good to hear from you! :3

Is that an actual question or your way of saying you cannot fathom anything out of everything I said?

When there are ways for things to go right, then please, name these ways. That journal entry only shows what can go wrong and says "but it might go right too".

Some of the examples don't work either, why would the creations want lasting rewards for taking care of themselves when they could just have been created so that they wouldn't have to take care of themselves?

Very thoughtful. I hope you don't mind me sharing with my family.
